Scout rocks! Scout lets you tailor your opening hand. The best hand involves a Gnosis Blade for Five Bears, a Halo of the Sun for Five Bears and Lummux, and either the One Mean Hombre or Delilah. Both if possible.

Also use K'To the Oracle's ability to optimize your deck and get yourself good draws as quickly as possible.

The combat deck is optomized to take advantage of Lummox's bonus on Strength attacks and Defenses. With a good hand, you can easily end up dealing 5 or 6 damage for only 2 Rage with Knock Em Down or Follow Through.

However, Lummox is a bit of a one trick pony and will rapidly get dogpiled by the other alphas who will immediately see him as a major threat. You WILL lose him. This is why you have Five Bears, who once he has a Gnosis Blade, Halo of the Sun, Wisdom of the Ancient Ways, and Strength of Purpose becomes a small engine of death.

You have the Hombre and Delilah as your major targets because you can kill the Hombre and get VP for him (Philodox can kill him and get VP) and then Delilah will come attack you. You can easily rack up 11 VP in a turn, and Lummox or tricked out Five Bears may even be able to survive it too!

Tally Rand is there to lower the Umbra and perform Rites of Accord to keep it low as well. This means Healing Dance and Channel Spirit will continue to patch up your characters.

Peter is also there to use the Rite of Accord, and to call Recycle so you can get your Rites of Accord back, along with anything you lost when you lost Lummox. He's also got a really high Gnosis, so if you lose Lummux too early, and have to send Five Bears out prematurely, you can use Peter as the back up to Five Bears.

The deck gets the name because occassionally when I've lost Lummux early, I've sent Five Bears to the Umbra as alpha and had him pass to drop the Umbra level instead of attacking something, or when he had nothing to attack due to Let Us Speak of Peace and an empty hunting Grounds. I always said he was doing the Umbra boogie.
