Endpapers are cracked at hinge on both volumes . Vol. I frontispiece of Dumas is loose from binding. Clean interior pages with black and white illustration. Some wear to edges and a few creased corners. Ex-library from hotel library Mills House No. 3 in New York. (the third and largest of the three model residential hotels for single working men erected by Darius Ogden Mills at the turn of the 20th century.) Each book measures 8.75"" X 5.75"" (22cm X125cm) 395+375 pages. Written by Alexandre Dumas in 1851-2, when at the height of his fame, with the purpose not only to picture the past, but to portray the new France made by the Revolution of 1848.
